چکیده

During observation campaigns of the Galactic Bulge region, BeppoSAX detected a total of 21 new X-ray bursters in about 6 years of operation. These sources are mostly transient and often feature a hard X-ray spectrum, extending up to ∼ 200 keV. A hard spectrum is generally found in weak, relatively short outbursts. On the other hand two sources, SAX J1747.02853 and SAX J1750.8-2900, have been seen with soft X-ray transient behaviour. In both low/hard and high/soft state, a thermal component is observed at energies below 10 keV and the spectra are compatible with the same model consisting of a blackbody or disk blackbody plus a hard or Comptonized component. Light curves are characterized by either weak, short flares or longer, high luminosity eruptions with exponential decay.

Spectral Properties of a Sample of Low Luminosity Type I X-ray Bursters

I report on a sample of new type I X-ray bursters, firstly detected with the Wide Field Cameras on board BeppoSAX and then studied with the Narrow Field Instruments on a broad spectral range (0.1-200 keV). Properties of the transient/persistent emission are summarized and the broad band X-ray spectra discussed in detail for a few sources.

Since 1996 a monitoring campaign of the Galactic Bulge region has been performed by the BeppoSAX Wide Field Cameras in the 2–28 keV band. This allowed accurate and unbiased studies of classes of objects. In particular the type-I X-ray bursters, whose distribution is concentrated in the monitored sky region, have been investigated. High luminos-ity radius-expansion bursts have been observed from...

The INTEGRAL long monitoring of persistent Ultra Compact X-ray Bursters

Context. The combination of compact objects, short period variability and peculiar chemical composition of the Ultra Compact X-ray Binaries make up a very interesting laboratory to study accretion processes and thermonuclear burning on the neutron star surface. The improved large optical telescopes and more sensitive X-ray satellites have increased the number of known Ultra Compact X-ray Binari...

Timing and spectral changes of the Be X-ray transient EXO 0531-6609.2 through high and low state

We report on a spectral and timing analysis of BeppoSAX data of the 13.6 s period transient X-ray pulsar EXO 053109-6609.2. Observations were carried out in March 1997 and October 1998, catching the source during a high and a low emission state, respectively. Correspondingly, the X-ray luminosity is found at a level of 4.2 × 1037 erg s−1 and 1.5 × 1036 erg s−1 in the two states. In the high sta...

Multiwavelength observations of the GRB 000615 field

We report on prompt and afterglow observations of GRB 000615 detected by BeppoSAX. The study of the high-energy prompt event is presented along with the search for its X–ray and optical after-glow. Spectral fits seem to suggest a temporal evolution of the GRB prompt emission. We possibly find evidence for intrinsic N H (at 90% confidence level) and for a transient spectral emission feature arou...
